The Donation to the Royal House of Ghassan 501c3 nonprofit is the ancient and traditional form of a “passage fee” for a knight or dame. Originally the fee covered the cost of armor, a sword, and a fully appointed horse. Today the passage fee covers the cost of the brevet, printing, and postage, and a generous donation to the nonprofit for its work of advocacy and humanitarian relief.
